Timing ? and plates

What r u guys running ? So far I'v been on 25 20 and now 28 so far I couldnt tell much cept the low end was better on 20 . I'v been chasing a boost problem I couldnt get over 40lbs of boost no matter what I did went from 191 to full cuts nothing , changed timing nothing changed pop nothing even changed turbos and moved plate nothing cept a drop in egts ..SO the other day I had a friend check something while I was free reving to 2000 rpm I hit my water and it started pouring out of the bottom intake in about a 6 in long area next to the head so I hope thats were its going... Now on timing I here some say they white smoke at idle and such mine does neither not yet I was wondering were the max is for a stock cam and such when to much timing is doing nothing

Also I noticed that with the plate all the way back the arm would hit the lip on the foot of a 100 plate , slid it half way foward and the arm is going under the foot and stoping about halfway , I thought they went above the foot or am I wrong ??

Yes I have a cam. I can get 55psi out of my setup. What turbo do you have? The gove arm should be above the foot.

try anywhere form 18 to 26 on the timing, that is what i have read on here a lot of people have been running

I have a few 2.5 chargers I'v been swapping in and out , when the VP was on I was hitting 60+lbs , I hope this gasket is it

How can I get the foot were its supposed to b , is that in the adjustment arm in back ?

got mine set at 20*, I runs great and spools a 71mm turbo to 60 no problem. I would like to bump it up a bit thoug, just to see were it realy likes it!

Mine feels great the more Rs it turns the needle lays on the peg for a few more R then it cuts out , I may turn it a click , last firday on the pull trac it started to cut out but when the sled box it they fell some but I was still peging the needle , I hope the V8 dash works this week

The Gasser tach works like a drop in replacment. And to get the arm to hit above the plate foot with it slid up further, you'll need to make an adjustment in the back of the pump. It's the one on the left side, not the right.

As the arm comes forward with rack travel, does it also rise upwards with rpm? I noticed when my pump was on the bench, with the plate all the way back, the arm would just touch the bottom corner of the plate and then go under. My question is once this thing is running, will the arm sit alittle higher and not go under the plate anymore or do I need to adjust it?

The arm does rise with RPM, but how much, I'm not sure. I've heard of adjusting the gov. arm while the engine is running, but that scares the **** out of me, really don't want to drop something while the pump is spinning.

Well I couldnt get the back cover off , Is there a special tool for that ? I just saw the 2 bolt type heads but they were solid round with like a 1/8 hole through them so I took the plate and ground down the bottom side low enogh the arm started to work like its supposed , now its pretty much all the way back and the arm is riding on top but its still to much fuel it wont get over 1400 on egts , so I'm going to drop around 50% on my injector size

7x14 but they have alot of lift and a few other tweaks they flow like a 7x18 when u call for fuel

rear cover bolts are flat head #3 size. Put a bit in a 1/4" socket on a 1/4" ratchet and you will be able to get it off easily.
Tape the screwdriver bit into the socket so it does not fall out.

Wow 7x14. that is decent size. I was going to run the same size but the laser guy said he didnt reccommend 7 hole tips for p-pump applications. I went with 6x18 with lift and pintle work and extrude honed bodies. I dont have the motor in the truck yet, but hopefully it will be ready to run by schieds. My pump is internally timed at 25* Tim

Well I changed the tips today went with a 7x10 and still 40lbs so I went to LOWES and got some plugs to pressure test the system , while I went to pull the boot off that connects the turbo to the piping I saw a hole in the back side after prying the boot off it has a 2in long rip 1/2 in wide hole, so I put a stock one on and took it down the road and boost was up to 50+ almost instantly then the clutch would slip , one down side to the weighted , so now after a few weeks here of beating my head I hope its coming around , and the V8 dash works great
