Trying to get the Scoop on a S366

T3's are great for a street truck that is not trying to make big power. If you are trying to make big power, time to hang up the T3....yes it will work, and yes it will have high drive pressure and eat thrust bearings. We rebuild S300's ALL the time with the same failure. Now the new Ball bearing S300 we are working on will solve that issue. The ball bearings themselves will take the load vs the brass bearing. Much stronger thrust load capability ~200times more and ~15% quicker spool through the shaft acceleration range.

I've driven a stock turbo, Super Phat Shaft 62, BD Super B Special, GT 4094R, and now this BW S366...I can say with confidence that this BW turbo is by far the fastest spooling, lowest temps, and all around best driving turbo of them ALL!!!

To be fair all of the above besides the Garrett were T-3 gated. The Garrett and the BW were T-4 non gated.

That sounds about right, since the GT40 turbine is a bit smallish..... and T4 non-gated is by far the way to go.

Going from my previous ED 62race cover/68 13ss with gates welded shut (press fit plugs) to this FI 64standard cover/71 with .91 non gated t4 divided housing has netted another 10psi boost or so! Truck feels like it pulls way harder as well. Definitely lost some spool (~300rpm) but feel the added power is worth it.

What about in the situation of a S300 T3 being in a set of compounds? Would going to a T4 non gated turbo with external gate be a better route? Say for 800-1000hp..:pop: Granted spool should be affected...would there be any other gains besides flow?

Will the ball bearing S3 be T3 or T4?

why would you plug the wastegate holes with a 68 turbine??

Because the pucks didn't seal 100% and it cost spool, more so than I'd like with a 68mm turbine given the idea behind that turbine is good spool with decent top end.

thats weird. the 64-71 is nice on the street, not to big not to small
