Pro 2.6 vs Street 2.6

If it would work I think it would be a great idea, too many guys with normal daily driver trucks with 2.6 turbos that just wanna play and be competitive against others like them and not get destroyed by the close to 4 digit hp trucks the 2.6 seems to be anymore...

What ever happened to the 2.8 class? That should be like the "pro class" and the normal guys that don't have trucks built for pulling should be in the 2.6 "street" class.

I probably don't know a tenth of what most of you do about pulling, rules, teching, and how things actually work out. But from someone that mostly watches and cheers on friends that pull, the "2.6" class is not very inviting to the normal folk...

Oh, you can remove the not close to four digit I think it's safe to say.

I think the protrusion rule needs to go, all it's doing is fattening the wallets of turbo builders. Bring back the Bushing housings, that way at least you don't have to have 4 grand in a turbo. Like stated, the 2.6 class is out of control.

You don't think the top guys in the bushing classes don't have $4000 in their turbos?

Billet HX60
Precision

Both of those are around $4k

Thats what I'm saying. A Pro 2.6 class would just be a waste of time. Current 2.6 turbos are 3.0 and 3.2 stepped inducer bore chargers with 102 or 110 comp exducers. Go ahead and make 2.6 a box stock class where the charger limits power. Then run a PRO 3.0 ODL class. Common Rails can play in that league now. By next year they will be able to turn the RPM for a reasonable amount of money.

I didn't realize this, I thought a 2.6 Protrusion Passing charger now build on the 60 platform was 3400ish. I figured sure someone could take a SuperFarm HX60, and through a bushing in it and be in it for alot less. Guess I was wrong.

You might be able to shop around and find one for $3000, just illustrating the point that the days of a $800 turbo getting you first place are pretty much gone.

How about we just leave it alone for a bit? Fass Nationals had a decent turnout, and if you couldnt tell the difference between the 3 classes then you dont know what your looking at.

Change the wording. 2.6 street and 2.6 puller.

Street class would be exactly like it sounds. No chassis or body modifications except traction bars. No hanging weight. No injectables. must retain factory rear bumper or equivelent and reese hitch must be bolted in stock location with only mod would be a brace to strenghten the hitch only with no frame attachment. Turbos can be bushed for cheapness cause without all the puller mods high hp wont make that much of a differance.

2.6 dedicated is what we all ready have. the old 2.8 class. Just drop the protrusion bull****. cause a s480 turbo is a s480 wether it is clipped, nipped, covered, bushed or protruded.

Just my thought on the deal.

I do see why they killed the 2.8 class because like it was said earlier a S480 is an S480 no matter. i also do not see changing the 2.6 class now that it is finally getting somewhere, it is allways the most popular class 2nd to the modified's so i say leave it alone. does a guy coming off the street with this DD truck have a chance of winning....not really but that is what the class has evolved to. there are so many trucks that pull at the larger events that it was taking way to long to get everybody hooked anyways. seems to me that any more the DD trucks are better off just pulling at there local brush pulls. what happened to the 2.4 class that MO used to pull a little bit, why not make that your "box" charger class for the DD guys. limit the chassis/body to make it a true street class and throw in there rules that include no S400 charger and so on

Im with him^, there is no lack of trucks pulling 2.6 around here, if anything there is getting to be to many tryin to hook per night! JMO!

around here the ws pulls more trucks then any other class and is very competive i say keep the workstock its a good class

Just a clarification, and this always happens, NADM 2.6 turbo rules have been the same since 2008.

We have no protrusion rule, those are other clubs.

2.6 does have a good turnout, and yes it is not friendly to anyone out of the top 10.

why drop 3.0?? ppl has 2.6 ,3.0 and superstock why not try to match one of the best org out there?

That part wasnt directed towards nadm. I knew that i just got in a hurry typing and didnt fully clarify that part. I was really just being opinionated about protrusion and wanted people to know.

Why drop 3.0? Same reason we dropped 2.8. Same reason PPL and NTPA will eventually drop Super Stock. Not enough consistent running trucks at every event.
Should we match their high entry fees and lower purses too? LOL

I know, but on an NADM thread you should specify before you have and argument going about somebody else's rules. The protrusion rules turned out just like a lot of us said it would, didn't it?:hehe:
