Hi i am new in trucking bussines . So please help me here is the details of truck & problem
1999 nissan ud box tuck 14 ft
turbo
diesel
new oil change , new fuel filter, waterseparator,

Problum is it is giving me poor mpg use to give me 13-15 mpg mostly highway miles but now it give me 10-11 mpg for same route .
i have done every thing i can think ( exept draining fuel tank because i do not how ) making sure tire presure is 80 psi.
Truck act like very loaded lot of stuff but i am empty. There is no any kind of light . Up todate on all services. Fuel system is bleeded .Any sugetion any idea i have done what ever i can think of .

It will be easy for me if it is explained how to found the leak and where to look as i said in my post i am new in bussines. Thanks a lot

I start working from air filter . It is a spin kind of ait filter .What i need to know is that filter should be spining freely or it should be fixed. It have a butterfly kind of 2 nots if tight them all the way in then air filter will be fixed and if i let rhem loose then air filter will be sping i just need to know that filetr should be fix or freely sping.

have you any more exhaust smoke than you had before, should indicate boost leak or blocked filter.

There is normal smoke from exhaust . Same as before so there is no diffrance now and before. Thanks

Thanks for helping me .
Here is the whats going on with truck,
# 1 Truck act like it is loaded ( when it is empty )
# 2 Taking too much power while going up the hill ,
# Fixing airfilter ( was stuck just loose the butterfly nut ) & draning water separator help me but doesnot solve the problum.
Still getting around 13 mpg which no goood this truck use to give me 15--17 mpg.
Any help appericate . Thanks

How to check cat or dpf clogged ? some details please i am new. Thanks
 
A 99' shouldn't have a DPF... I notice you said it seemed to take more power going up hill, sounds like a boost leak, clogged exhaust or maybe a turbo problem?
 
Agreed, a boost leak or turbo failing from your description of the performance of the truck.
 
I suppose there is no mass airflow sensor? If it has one and it's dirty, it will run bad and get poor fuel economy.

check the lift pipe in the fuel tank to see if it has a filter on it or if its clogged with dirt

I do not understand what u mean by filter ? Is it inside the tank ? if yes then how to check it i do not know how to check it or replace or clean . But i already have replace botth ( fuel filter & warter separator) .Thanks
 
The MAS will usually be between the air filter and turbo.. You can actually buy mass airflow sensor cleaner, to clean it out.. Just make sure it looks real clean, any film of any kind on it is no good.

Please remove the maf to clean it, you will have an expensive paper weight on your hands when it fires up on those cleaner fumes and over speeds. Find a factory service manual on ebay or another location, it if the best wealth of knowledge you can find
