Guess yall forgot about the driving lesson he gave John. You know they one where he ran like 2.500 seconds slower than the index and John broke out by a couple tenths....
If Greg could make an all out pass id put money on it. Surely at 1700lbs it is capable of a decent run. Wade did have a successful prostock truck. Theoretically he could apply the same to top diesel. And dmitri knows how to make power. From recent posts by Jeff dean he seems like he's growing less and less in ambition. Based on the action of Bank's prostock answer to Wade, I'd say it will continue to live in the museum. Either way I'm sure Jared welcomes a little competition finally.
I am far far from an expert but if the compd calculators work on these ultralight rails and extremely quick times then it wouldn't take much power by modern standards to put a 1700 lb rail down the track and be competitive.
At 1700 lbs a 6 second run for example calculates out to 1289 horsepower
A 1700 lb vehicle with 1228 horsepower traps at 220.
It is all theoretical, I am unsure if the calculator works with those times and speeds, but if so those are some good numbers and 1300hp even out of a duramax ( :stab: ) aren't unheard of. Especially considering the amount of :nos: he sprays for his "clean diesel program".
I do not know the guy nor do I have a stance on the drama but it would be exciting to see. What exactly is holding something that light back?
The calculators work and it shouldn't take that much to run fast. Mine was 2235 at Indy last week. I will bet money that Greg's is around 2K. Maybe more with two turbos and all the pipes and dry sump stuff. Power shouldn't be the problem but using it is.
You know what I wish? I wish the three headed monster that is Wade, Greg and D would've chosen some other engine platform than the Dmax.
If we're talking rails, does this one count?

I kid, I kid....but it is pretty cool.
That's the one I was talking about. The video was from their first time running it on asphalt. I expect it will be quicker and faster if they run it some more and get it to hook throughout the run. The rear end was wanting to brake loose the whole way down the track... In the sand with the paddle tires on it hooks and goes straight, not so much on the pavement!
Hopefully they will get it out to more dragstrips soon as it was fun to watch!
Kind of a testament to what weight does to a purpose built drag truck. It seems diesel drag racing in its early stages neglected some of the basics from the gas world: weight, chassis, and gearing. It is obvious the weight issue is being addressed as we see more s10, ranger, scsb 2wds, rails, etc... year after year. The gearing seems to get approached more every year with more fab 9s, and beefed up ford 9" rears out there as well.
How can we help Jeff get new sponsors to up his game a notch or three?!?!
He is already the one to beat with a duramax platform.
Besides Jeff, H & S is the one on the list that has experience running a diesel dragster and the knowledge on how to put HP on the track. Banks won't come out to play again IMO.
As seen in the past just making big HP doesn't amount to record breaking passes on the drag strip, just amounts to breaking(egos, parts, and keyboards)
People might think this thing is a gasser once we let Zane turn the nitrous on...:ft:

This should be interesting to watch. I don't question $hit sticks drive, he's got plenty of that. I do question him trying to hang all the stuff from his dyno queen in a rail, especially in front of an Allison. His prostreet truck was well put together but the chassis was never set up right and it looked like a pogo stick going down the track.
I'd love to see Banks get their rail back in the game. I agree it is good to see more rails getting into diesel racing. Very interesting group for sure. I know who will be first off the line, Jeff can cut a light.
