Truckers, lets see your rigs!

This^

If you have to have a single and have to haul heavy then keeping the power down is your only viable option that will keep your sanity. Are 600hp trucks just not cool enough for guys anymore?

Building from the ground up. Maybe cutting back hp is a better option. Idk

Can go up to 180k. Not everyday though. It's a 16 liter. If that would make a difference. Decisions decisions

Not really, Acert is 15.2L and they suck with a single too. 15.8L isn't a big enough difference to notice. I like the 1.58 housing but you can't have a single for big HP that also keeps the Jake tight and spools instantly. I've tried PDI's stainless 1.45 housing and it runs good. I've got 2 of the Borg 1.45 or 1.42 (whatever they are) but never tried them. IMO 700hp is about the limit for the 1.32 but up to that they work good.

800hp, 10mpg and 1mil+ miles between breakdowns. Where the fuk have you been? Lmao

LOL

True that. Don't forget to ignore every gauge on the dash in the process.

I've got 3 PDI cores here. 2 of them have the massive "adjustable" housing on them and one of the stainless 1.45. All three are completely exploded. If anybody has some interest in the housings give us a call. I would rather sell them separate.

Pssshhh 600hp is a company truck these days.

The irony of that is the same guys that want 800hp are the same ones who complain about how unreliable all of the newer stuff is. We have a lot of come to Jesus meetings on the phone with guys.

Maybe the 1.45 housing would be something to try. I'm assuming it will be in the 725-750 range closer to the lower. On area diesels site! the cat 795 looks promising. Don't eyed the instant spool necessarily. Just want a good jake. I like the Acert twin idea. Just ave some separate concerns
Thanks

I've never tried the Borg housing but been told on the dyno it doesn't compare to the PDI. The PDI is good on a Cat, seems a bit laggy on a Cummins even with fuel. Zfaylor said he has one if you want to try it. Don't waste your time with the nozzle ring housing. Have one laying here too and not worth a damn.

Better have the engine hoist ready to move the nozzle ring housing around the shop too LOL first time I picked one of those cores up my voice changed pitch.

Not an expert but I just took a BW 0001 off my 15.8 5DS it was on for 30,000 and seamed to small the jakes were stronger and it was a dragster through the bottom gears but would surge badly on the top end and on long pulls you would have to back out of it to the point of almost coasting to keep boost below 40 or then the fan came on from high intake temps and that's with a new ata , pdi manifold and radiator ,I put the BW 175963 with 1,65 WG housing and it is a joy to drive a bit laggey 1450 and under but over 1500 it pulls strong , I bought it used and as far as I now is stock but it might have been tuned before I got it , It drags a bull rack around so I'm sure my likes are different than others and I know you guys work them harder but it is more to my liking now , I have friends with hot mbn and 6nz that love the 1.58 but it was unworkable for this motor

What is wrong with the stock charger on the 15.8L? The factory GT50 has a better turbine than the S400 line and a 78mm inducer if I recall and is used to 750hp on the 15.8L engines with only an exhaust housing change.

Better question is what is wrong with the factory 0r7923 and a mild tune?

I was very happy with the stock unit but when it developed a large crack in the hot side and I could not find one to go on it that wasnt going to run 300-500 more than a new 175963 I went with the BW , if I ever come across an affordable housings I would rebuild it and put it back on . What is housing upgrade to take it to 750 ?

Little small for a 15.8L in this instance.

Seems the problem with all the chargers is that they run out of turbine before they max the compressor side on a Cat.

I was speaking rather generally about CAT guys. I agree, though. In this instance slap a factory charger on.

The turbine side could be corrected but the drivers are the biggest wall with that. They assume a wastegated housing is always bad and they want 800hp without sacrificing a single part of driveability.

I like borgs product but it seems there is a design flaw on the cold side sealing ring. It seems to be common to guys who do a ton of idling but the compressor side will be wet with oil more frequently than not. We are trying some things on guys trucks to correct it.

The idiot that put a solo in front of a maxitorque needs tortured to death.

I've spent this entire ****ing month under dump trucks. I quit my last job over the same ****.

Any idiot that puts a solo in these days needs smacked.
I've never seen a Solo that was worn out. Always about 1/2 gone and the adjuster stops. If your too f'ing lazy to adjust a clutch then you have no business owning a truck. Don't get me started on the ultrashift stupidity.

I think dad's international had one in it from the factory, don't recall any issues with it but I think the adjustment was froze up.

This is a factory, adjuster has shattered, broken springs, Yada Yada.

Eaton pitches the clutches as a cost of ownership incentive, like "lifetime" u-joints.
