Let's see your pullin hitches!!!

my new hitch, please forgive the welding, im kinda new at welding and my main concern was getting the penetration into that thick metal so it wont break. its not pretty by any means, tho it will look alot better after some grinder time, but it will hold

Hey I have the copy right to that picture:rules:

Here's mine, just got it done last month. 3" lunette ring, I'll be replaceing the bolts with grade 8 pins for faster/easier adjustment.

It seems like most you you are not to worried about how far back the hitch is. You make these huge reinforcements that push the hitch farther and farther from th3 reciever.

Here is a link to my back end. As far ahead as I could get it and still meet the rules.

I just took the lunnette ring and bracket and torched a square hole in the bracket. Stuck the solid 2" square tube through so that I could weld on both sided. Saw to many butt joint welds break. Hooked around 30 times and it is as straight as the day I built it.

TJ was I clear on the other bracing? I now have highspeed, if you need anymore pics, it won't take 10 minutes to upload them.

yea i havent got to those yet, i might go outside here in a few and fire up the welder and burn them on also.

ok so I got a rollpan installed on the truck...took the stock receiver off...what do y'all reccommend? new receiver, like class V? also for sled stops...how would you make these w/ a rollpan?

Reinforce you stocker. Put a 3x3 piece of angle on top of the cross piece, and then brace the back of the receiver to the rest of the hitch.
If you look at the design of the stocker, as long as you can keep it from buckling in the center, it is a pretty stout piece. I reinforced my stocker and have 3 years of pulling on it.

Here's a newb question: how do you all attach the hitch to the receiver? Do you use a standard 5/8" hitch pin or Grade 8 bolt or? Seems like that would be the weak link after all the effort y'all are putting into the hitch and ring.

Grade eight bolts and if you use a cheesy clevis use a bolt on it too.

... or at least look good tryin'! :pop:

You wish! :hehe:

... OTOH - it IS only designed for 80K# cycles....

Yeah, I second that Gene....Honestly, I think just tightening up the chain and leaving the line is going to tear that thing appart (at least the way the way I start the sled a movin)
