traditionally, a hot rod was/is a vehicle that yields excellent performance for the dollar. 1st gens are great trucks! they are classics! but you're up against a serious wall when it comes to getting decent power out of them.

I have a water to air intercooler,3200 spring ,pump turned up,timing advanced and 5" exhaust,still have the stock turbo,injectors and transthat's impressive... I'm surprised you're going that quick w/ that setup! what's your setup?!
