My 2003 with 182k on the odometer has developed a surge/stumble at idle. It is much more obvious when the truck is in gear. Basically, the idle drops from 750 down to about 650 and then jumps back up to 750. This occurs approximately every 6 seconds with good consistency. Engine temperature has no impact.
Another symptom is that it will randomly shut off on it's own while driving. This will happen once or twice on my 30 minute drive to and from work.
The only performance mods are a BullyDog GT tuner, intake, exhaust, and supposedly 60 hp Bosch injectors (not sure if I can verify these). Still has the lift pump mounted next to the fuel filter canister. I run approx 1 oz/gal of 2 stroke oil. No gauges besides what the BullyDog can display.
