2005 Dodge Commonrail to 12v swap

The hoods look nice but they are patched together. lol Both were split down the middle and are now held together with rivets and strips of aluminum. But hey it works.

Yeah, I hope not getting it resurfaced doesn't come back to bite me. The guy machining the pedestals can't do heads or big stuff like that. The nearest "machine shop" to me that does heads is known for ripping people off so i'm kind of between a rock and a hard place.

Well look what showed up today.:D Got my 6 speed in a nice wood crate. Got it loaded up in the ole v10 and ready to haul home.

Dropped my pedestals off to get milled. Should have them back by this weekend.

Got the rocker pedestals back. Guy was nice enough to get them done quick and only charge me $60. Also got my injectors in Friday. Getting closer by the day. :evil Hoping to get the head torqued down this next week. It's 5 degrees at the moment. No heat in the shop so work will be halted 'till Wednesday. Good ole' Missouri. Supposed to be 60 degrees then :woohoo:

whats name of the shop that did your rockers? i'd gladly ship my spare pedestals to them if they only charge $60!

Well, it wasn't a shop that did them. It was a guy that used to be a machinist. Retired years ago and got a lathe to do work on his own stuff. Helps people like me out if they need it.

Keep it coming. Good idea for the stainless exhaust manifold bolts. I had to remove some 25 year old exhaust manifold bolts a few months back. What a chore.

Have you decided on which clutch you will be using?

Thanks Red Sleeper. Removing 25 year old bolts doesn't sound fun at all. I'm not sure of the clutch yet. The nv5600 I bought is the early one (smaller input). I think it uses the same clutch as a nv4500 but I'm not positive. Gotta do more research on that.

Little update. I got the pedestals on and the head torqued down. Weather has been crazy this week so progress has been slow. Need to set the valve lash later this week. Then it will be paint time.

I bought this truck outa Texas or Ok with 55K on it had a bad motor when I bought it...
Fixed it sold it to Greg... Guy was a hot shot owner and had some really bad drivers hired.

Trans input Bering is toast. Hole in block, ECM busted. Rear-end is making noise. That rear-end is not the original.

That motor I Built for it I guess lasted around 270K or so of EXTREAM abuse 3 f350 vans from Texas to NY every week

Small world. Did the trans work ok? It had another rear-end in the bed when I bought it. I figured it was abused, but now im kinda scared..

Any info you have about the truck or any known problems would help me out in the long run Bad-Duvall. Greg was the guy I bought it from.

Nope i think your replacing all the parts that I mentioned. So you should be great!

Found a deal I couldn't pass up. Found a good used Eaton Fuller 6 speed from a 99 ford f800. Truck had a 24v cummins so no issues there. Got the transmission, clutch, flywheel, adapter and drive shaft. I may have some trouble fabbing up the clutch hydraulics, but hauling heavy junk isn't going to tear this bad boy out..

You lucky dog. That is one hell of a manual transmission.

You plan on doing some major towing?
