2009 Silencer Ring

Okay, I put the aFE CAI on last night, and was intending to remove the ring. I expected to see something like I had on my 99 and the 04.5. Nope, no sirree. Looks like a more permanent fixture to me.

Any clues?

you can machine out three holes in the silencer RING portion... don't remove the whole thing no matter what the injunears on cumminsforum say

Don't remove it - the ring is part of the compressor housing's MWE.

you expose part of the inducer diameter of the compressor wheel

A buddy did it to his, and it hasnt hurt his performance any that he can tell. Didnt really help either though other than it whistles more.

the turbo just has to spin faster to make a given boost level... if he actually wants to make some power with the truck, he'll notice a difference.

he might also notice it when the turbo ****s the bed because it's been overspun

Its been just fine with his smarty so far. Not saying it will stay that way. He actually just stuck a buddies compressor housing on his charger after they drilled the silencer ring out of it.
