2011 2500, shifter not coming out of park

I have a 2011 2500 with 80k on it. The shifter is having a hard time getting out of park. The dealer said it was a problem Dodge fixed with a new mounting plate.. they installed the plate, and said I have to push a screwdriver through the hole to get the shifter out of park. what kind of a fix is this!!! has any one else had this problem, or this fix given to them?

I had the same issue with my 2012 right after I bought it new. Went to head out on a camping trip one weekend, went to toss the truck in drive and couldn't get the shifter to move. Read in the manual to push something into the hole on the column to bypass that switch, so I drove all weekend with a ballpoint pin jammed into that column.

Took the pin out when I got back, and I've yet to have that problem again and that's been over 3 years. Not sure if leaving the pin in there that long did something or what, but I'm not complaining.
