2nd gear lock up?

Not quite, it allows you to do so after the Valve Body has been modified. A stock VB will not lock in manual 2nd or 1st, they will not lock in 1st gear while in D either, nor will they allow a 4-3 locked downshift.

Some JB weld placed here will get you 2nd lockup

This shows the passage through the separator plate that you are ultimately blocking.

So after a little over a year I finally did this LOL , and guess what it works =D so happy to have 2nd gear lockup again, and I was able to clean everything up real nice. Pulling that clip from the vb wasnt hard at all idk why people ***** that much about it :pop:
 
did you guys have a hole drilled in there that needed to be blocked, or just the passage itself?

i thought somewhere buried in the FSM was a line that the trans can lock the tcc in 2nd if the fluid temp goes too high.


on mine, if the selector is in D, it can be forced to lock in 2nd but it jumps right to 3rd while locked. id really love to find a solution to help it remain in 2nd while ive got the VB apart. anyone know what i can do to prevent a locked 2-3 upshift without altering my normal unlocked shift timing? im happy with my tv stop setting right now.

Do the mod in this thread then pull the shifter down to 2nd when you want to lock in 2nd and stay in 2nd.
 
i did it today. that photo with the pin made me think there was a hole to fill and the pin was sticking out of its location. now that ive seen the separator plate i realize whats going on. thanks
