i found a really nice 12v for a good price...and idk to much about the 12v's...but could someone give me a rough estimate on how much it would take to get 500 horse out of it? thanks

i'd say about 3500,if you do that make sure you get your self a good fuel system you prolly wanna go with a 150 gph fass pump

I have it

heres how i did it

Valair Inc Ceramic clutch $450 dollars
100 fuel plate $000 dollars
16.5 timing $100 dollars
Rips Twins $2000 dollars
Modded AFC $0005 dollars
Dragon Flys $0900 dollars
181 DV's $0000 (with 215 pump)

TOTAL $3405 dollars give or take 10 percent

also have a set of 191s comin in soon as well as some Rips Innercooler boots, there is more power in this truck wiht a bit more tuning, Iwouldnt guess much over 550 tho..... anyways it needs headwork, and some good IC boots.. but far as i can tell if im not over 500 im close.. My basis.....

My last dyno was 450 with 181s and 370 junkers... what a difference a good injector makes...

I would not concider any fuel system mods unless you have a problem with the stock system at this power level, and if I did putting a FASS on would be my very last option!!

SS99, What do you want to do with it?? just see 500 rwhp on a dyno or real world daily useable 500 rwhp?

Which year truck and is it an auto or manual.... The 215HP trucks are pretty easy.

#10 plate
PS62 turbo
Hot Rod 370 injectors
timing set to 6-6.1mm lift.
AFE intake
SBC MU 13-1.25 Con-FE

Based on this you would be looking at around $3500

I'd have to agree here! With a 215 pump you will not need Twins or Dragon Fly's, those are for later! If you want Twins then by all means buy/build them!

its a 98 auto....how much will the stock gaskets and studs hold up to? im curious because im used to worryin about it with the 6 leaker:doh:

I have
sps 66 1400
govenors 150
.5 mm delivery valves 200
edmed holders 180
5x16 edm injectors 360
oringed and planed head 300
.20 over head gasket and bolts 220
5 in exhaust 360
and some other work on the pump and make around 570 on my daily driver it comes up to 2800 put I sold my other turbo and had the govenors dv's and afc. I would say that i have aroun 2000 in it but the expspensive part is when you get in to transmissions, or clutches

the stock head gasket isn't going to last half throttle first time you start it at this power level. You will need to fire ring it or oring your choice and 12mm studs or 14mm I would go the 14mm route I had trouble with 12mm and if fire ring schied's did an awesome job on my truck.

A good size single or twin's will be needed to burn the fuel, fuel system no matter what any one says you will need a fuel system either Fass or just a pusher pump from aeromotive ect. 150gph. the truck will run hard and strong with out it; mine does but you lose about .6 .5 or so in the 1/4 with out it. My fuel pressure is great on my truck 40 psi till my foot hit the floor then straight down to 8 psi at WOT and that is a brand new lift pump to. I have $9,800 in mine but that is do to shied's had to do some extra stuff to mine when I fire ringed it that was $3,000

the rest I have this
5,400 Transmission
185 #5 TST fuel plate
I forget for vavle springs
125 TST gov spring kit
400 injectors and dv's
250 for HT3B
200 in two stacks
another couple hundred in piping for twins I built

I was doing great at just over 400 hp.. I just HAD to try and get to 500 and it all went to crap. It doesn't just cost money to get there, it costs money to stay there.

I never went over 45 psi and blew the headgasket. It'd just be a safe bet to throw some ARP studs in there before the headgasket ever decides to fail.. And for a 98 Auto. The cost isn't modifying the motor, it's modifying the tranny.

Oh and I agree with KIDFAN. a FASS or any other type of aftermarket pump isn't needed.

At 500rwhp and 19* of timing my stock headgasket lasted 2yrs, which is alot longer than I though it would. I would say depending on how you attack the situation you can do it for some what cheap. You could pickup a used 215 pump from a wrecking yard for $600-$800, 370 injectors $300-$500, used turbo $500-$1000, adjust your timing, and carve a custom plate.
