On a B-series Cummins engine the damper does nothing for rotating assembly balance, it dampens torsional vibrations.
 
No need to worry about a different damper, just be aware that there are good, better & best choices to handle harmonics.

Manual transmission applications should consider this more carefully than converter drivelines.
