Actual piston to valve clearance

.500" lift ?? Dang, and I was stressing about .333 Intake Lift and .310" Exhaust lift with stock clearances.

I would assume he is talking about gross lift.

Yeah, I was talking about gross valve lift. Mainly just trying to say, that you can have moderate valve lift at moderate rpm and still get away with fairly tight clearances. It's not a good idea though!


That is alot of lift. Drothgeb, what does your head flow or do you know? Most stall out far before .500" lift...

Edit: not trying to be rude, just curious.

You're right there. My "old" head didn't have enough flow to work well with that cam, and I ended up losing a lot of hp. Just started grinding on a new head though. Hopefully, it will be a better match.
