Another rusty ugly budget drag truck

Haven't decided yet, I have been daily driving the truck with the hx40. I don't see myself putting any money into the trans for a while. I'm getting married in March and shouldn't be playing with the truck right now.

Congrats Spoolin on getting married hopefully I will be able to compete with your truck im down here in North Miami as you may know I am having my tranny built for the power but want a quick spooling setup

So how exactly do you have your fuel system set up? Still using stock lift pump with pusher with a regulator on the return?

Throw that shaft away!!! The metal has been compromised! When that breaks it will take out the converter

The lift pump is in series to the factory lift pump. When the pump is off the factory lift pump pulls through it just fine and I see about 55psi at idle. With the electric pump switched on pressure jumps to 75psi. The regulator is the ofv, I have an adjustable ofv with an extra spring in it to bump fuel pressure.

Small transmission update. I borrowed a gauge and monitored line pressure. I found it to be as high as 120psi locked in od. Seems like I can bump it to 175psi and get some more clamping force on the clutches. I'm also going to swap to hydraulic fluid, a fresh filter and adjust bands. At least that's the plan, truck is holding up fine for daily driving.

The fuel feed line from the factory filter housing to the p7100 cracked today so I'm going to grab some -8an line and fittings and dual feed it.

I purchased a new used turbo today, hx60 80mm 32cm. Not sure if I am going to try it with a stock manifold and adapter or maybe get a nice t6 manifold or lastly compound it with the hx40. Since I have nitrous I'm not afraid of spoolup at the track but I'm sure street manners will suffer as a single.

You sure do like nos huh?*nx* Anyways I got a question for you Where did you get your head bolts? Do you have part numbers? Thanks for your time and sorry for all the questions.

Wouldn't the hx40 work better with an hx60? The hx52 is pretty big, it's a 67mm and has a big 16cm t4 housing. If I were to compound I thought the 32 is a good turbine housing to run.

I think single would be easiest and cheapest, just suck if I want to tow and laggy/smoky on the street. I'm used to 4cyl so I'm not afraid of lag, smoking out traffic does get old though. I also have another truck, f150 that I tow with so this truck is more of a toy.

Have to decide if this is a pure racetruck, where street manners aren't a priority, or a hot street/strip truck

I ran a hx52 single for a year. I towed with it and did long distance tows but it was laggy and smokey with my tight converter. Now my converter is back to stock stall and I would love to run a 52 again. Would probably be much more friendly.

Hx52 is back on and I cranked the line psi to 180....

Trans is dead. I purchased the billet kit on ebay for $230 and only installed the billet strut, anchor and accumulator piston. I also increased tv pressure one turn and line pressure 20turns. With tv tied open the shifts were way higher at about 3800rpm normal driving. I never got a chance to see if overdrive held because about two mile into my drive the pressure slowly dropped to zero. I was seeing my target of 180psi in od converter locked and a brief spike to 200 at some point in or out of 4th gear.

I will drop the pan and take a look around but unless the valvebody came loose I don't think their is an easy fix and the trans is coming out. I also left in drive while coasting to a stop hoping pressure would come back up and I could pull off to a safe location so I may have done more damage. It smelled burnt when I pulled over but I also spilt some trans fluid on the exhaust.

Was it just the valvebody? If not you going to upgrade the input shaft?

BTW that Mitsu is sick. I just killed 70min trying to figure out how you got that thing to run 9's without anything all that exotic. Badass for sure.
