Hello,

Which hp level I have to use billet flexplate? I will use ddt singel disk converter,billet input and output shaft.
Are the 500..550 hp little to much for the stok flexplate?
Like Astross I also will use hx35/hx50(bigger version) twin turbo set up.
Also when I will going to need Billet intermediate?
:bang

You can break a stock flexplate with less than 300 hp. . Go with the Laminated/billet plate if you plan on doing many 4x4 lauches

Agreed, go with the flexplate first. I think it takes a lot of power to break an intermediate shaft.

I´m planing lot off 4x4 lauches. :drive:

What difference are in laminated flexplate and billet flexplate?

The difference that I have seen is the laminated, at least my Suncoast is a stock flexplate with a second center section welded on and "laminated".

The "billet" I saw was a thicker completely different flexplate. I think the one I saw was ATS, not sure.

My Suncoast Laminated flexplate seems to be holding fine. The stock one eventually ended up in two seperate pieces.

flexplate for sure. intermediate no. Ive seen flexplates, inputs and outputs break. no intermediates.

I have seen an intermediate break, but that was on a ProStreet Truck

broke my flexplate w/ 484HP 1017TQ didn't break doing a launch - it broke doing 100+ WOT and all of a sudden tick,tick,tick, bang! I put a nice shiny blue Billet DTT Flexplate in!

I guess it depends on who makes DTT's plate when you get one. mine was gold. but still they are all stout pieces. definately needed. the stock flexplates are weak. im surprised they dont break on stock trucks. well they probably would except the stock t/c is so loose.

Is the blue DTT flexplate made of steel or aluminium ?

My gold DTT is made of steel and it looks like totally different than blue DTT flexplate ?

:what:

They switched from the Blue to the Gold after Dec 05. The blue's are thicker, made out of aluminum (by Reactor) and need special thickness convertors. The steel is the same thickness and doesn't require anything special.

brnadon.

How would a new Flexplate help an OEM truck? How do they help put power to the ground? What exactly breaks or makes a flexplate break?

I only know what I have read from that newletter.

Not one of mine as it is being tested as are several other things right now.

The first thing I broke on my truck when I started racing was the flex plate. I was running the truck with a stock trans and a BD Crazy larry program and I was launching and running it in 2 wheel drive trying to save the trans when it broke . It hit 4th gear and twisted the center out. After that it was off to HTS to get my tranny done so I could really pour some power to it !

Are all aftermarket Cummins flexplates made of steel?

BD- > steel
DTT-> steel
ATS- >?? , from pictures it looks like steel
Suncoast -> laminated steel
Transmissioncenter -> steel

ATS waring : The ATS Billet Flexplate will not mate to a DTT torque converter!

I am curios, whats the reason ?

I have a reactor flex plate that is billet aluminum. I purchased it from DTT a couple of years ago.
