Building trailer, need wood deck advise.

I love high sulfur
8'x16' flat deck trailer that I'm planning on covering with 2"x12"s. the big question is should I screw them directly to the frame or do I bolt a 1"x4" stringer down the frame rails and cross members and then screw to that. I've seen both, why?

We do 2-2 1/2" boards straight to the frame. Just alot easier and less flex in the long run. We use 100% white oak boards, most come with pressure treated pine from the factory but the oak boards will last twice as long with a little fuel and burnt oil mopped on.

Creosote boards (milled telephone poles) last forever and are stout. Directly to the frame, if you can seal with the smell, its a great choice
