common rail block?????

so whats it take to vertually just use a cr block for my 12valve.. i just cracked this block and i dont want to worry about it again so im thinking this would be the best way to go.. is it just a case of the front motor cover being different? can i use my 12v crank and head?
i have another 12v block but was hoping this would be a simple block swap but again im not sure on this..

Sorry I was thinking of putting a CR head on a 12-valve or VP 24-valve block, which does require some work to get the water passages to mate up correctly right?

dang 1800 bucks plus a pan just to start plus the block.. thats outa my budget i guess.. i already have another 12 block..
