a friends 96 3500, stick shift, no plate, hx-40... we drove to daytona this week it took us 2.5 hours at 2800 rpm's the whole way and the temp never got over 150, actually no mater what we do it never gets over 150 degrees. there aint even a fan shroud on it! ideas?!?!

I'm gonna guess bad gauge or sensor. A buddy of mine had a stuck tstat and even in the wintertime it would come up to temp in about 8 miles of backroads driving.

If thermostat is stuck open, fuel economy will improve with a new thermostat that allows engine to run at normal operating temp.

the gauge is working he used a temp gauge from work on it and it read the same. and ya it would come up to temp with a stuck t stat. its odd because his egts are relatively hi but water temp is low. plenty of fluid in it, we checked everything.
