cracked exhaust housing

What causes the exhaust housing on a turbo to crack? I have a silver bullet 66 that's cracked on the divider. can it be run like that or will it cause problems?
 
That's what I figured. I bought the turbo used and didn't notice the crack till i got it. Will it work to run it? It's supposed to have about 1000 miles on it.
 
Usually heat, in my case it is and yes it is fine to run it, actually if it wasn't cracked I'd be surprised.
