Cummins vs. BMW 550i

I went to the street legal drags this past Friday with my 98' daily driver. Had an interesting race with this new BMW 550i.

My truck was right at 7200 lbs and that's about all I could muster with small 5x.011" injectors and factory HX35 turbo. Getting beat is the ambition I need to get the Junker back to the track to demoralize these high $$$ cars. I guess I could finish my twin turbo build and probably have a better chance keeping up with these newer cars.

The BMW driver admitted that he was really concerned when he saw my truck launch off the line. Thankfully his 4.4 liters of twin turbo'd V-8 German engineering came to life and pulled out the win.

I did put a length or two on this WRX non-STI so nothing to write home about:

Man, is that what a 1/4 mile track looks like? Haven't seen one in over a year.

Looking good in the DD there. Equipped with injectors, trans parts, and some pump tuning?

Little 5x.011" fuel economy injectors, AFC mods, 18* timing, home-built tranny that was short shifting a little bit (maybe good to short shift with stock turbo, maybe hurt ET, I don't really know).

14.6 is nothing special, there are 2wd trucks running 12's or even high 11's with the stock turbo that's been carefully modified. I was able to get mid 13's with the stock turbo on my Junker Drag Truck.

throw some moderate DV's in there and set those twins up! that'd be one bad two rig! At roughly 400hp at the fly wheel that thing runs pretty good!

Hm, thanks for the feed back. I need to start getting more into the p-pump 12v's. That VE rotary pump just doesn't do it for me.
