Custom battery cables?

Thoroughly impressed with BatteryCablesUSA.com

Although I ordered some wrong sized lugs on the ground everything went smooth. They do returns and exchange even when it’s buyer error so that’s solid.

Second pic is the OE PDC cable next to the “Extreme Battery Cable” style they offer. Very heavy and fine strand copper.

I’ll be exchanging some lugs as well as the ground cable for the correct parts. You build your own cables on the website and I got a few sizes wrong. The insulation is double layer marine grade with about every cert. I could imagine for a cable. Anyways, just wanted to update and throw another option out there.

Bateman: does your truck start faster? Any noticeable difference with the new cables?

Unfortunately, my truck came with a crappy parts store starter that I’ve yet to replace with an OE unit. So I’m sure it could be better, but with only one battery now it seems to kick over plenty fast. No cold weather yet though. I don’t anticipate any issues after a new starter with no grids connected. I will plug it in for below freezing nights.

I’m running a single Interstate MT27 1000CA/810CCA.

I’m impressed with how impressed I am over a modification that would normally be lame to me and aggravating to spend money on. This was well worth the less than $100 that I spent. You could build an entire kit for a good bit cheaper than Custom Battery Cables.com sells them for.

To answer your question directly Underwood, I can’t tell a measurable difference in starting from two batteries and OE cables compared to the single battery and new cables.

It looks better and should prevent any future problems that were most likely going to show up. My old cables were really stiff and brittle. I couldn’t keep the corrosion at bay either.

Ordered more wires for my sound system and grounds to frame and body. Oversized a bit.

Also going to redo my headlights. I have a decent sport headlight swap with high+low beams, but from the relays it goes from 12 gauge to 8 or so at the fuse holder and back down to 12. Figured if I’ve went this far with I might as well finish it off. I can at least have it as functional or better than it is and a lot more appealing to the eye.

Finished for now. Not sure what I’m doing with the headlight wire yet so I hid it from the pic haha. Going to hold the 2/0 power and ground together with some MS21919 clamps bolted together. That should hold it off of anything it might rub on.
