My guess is fuel from the exhaust caught on fire.

i have seen the brake dust in the side the rims catch on fire.i have also seen steel belted radials throw sparks.

it can happen. i did a burnout for 2 to 3 min with a beater s-10 and when i got done the tire cought on fire by it self.

I have seen it myself when I was younger. A guy had a brakeloc on the front brakes and just let her buck. Finally there was a fire at the back
