If anyone would care to share some pics of how you cut the bed and reinforced it on a second gen I would greatly appreciate it. Just trying to get ideas
When I was planning mine, a lightweight 1/2" square tube frame going from inside the overhang at the top to the "rocker" area in a few places seemed easy enough.
I wanted mine to slide in from the side and pin so I could also use that method to hang them on my wall for storage while working.
Hopefully that is as vague and confusing as possible LOL
Most I've seen leave about a foot in the front, and a foot in the back, +/- a few inches, some add a piece of square tubing at each end to keep the bedsides from flopping around if they don't leave much at the ends..
I had considered this before, but since I'm 2wd, I'd be better off moving as many parts off the front as possible and trying to relocate them as far back as I can. Being there's only so much I can take off the front, I'll have to shorten the wheel base and add ballists as needed to get as close to 50/50 as I can.
Cut out the floor and wheel wells cause of slicks and clearance still need to do the inner besides but everything was pretty sturdy tell I cut the wheel wells up a little bit for clearance than I had to add some support bars to the lower bedsides by the wheel well 2 wheel drive so I moved as much to the back as possible with the time and stuff I had at the time of doing it
