electrical problems

well last i drove my truck home from work and everything was working perfectly fine. i shut it off at home went in the house for about a half hour, came back out to turn the smarty down a level and noticed when i turned the key on my gear selection screen was blank. changed my levels and started the truck, still blank. all the other gauges work fine and so does the odometer screen. anybody have any ideas? thanks in advance
