For some reason I can't keep an HX-60 together this year. I've blown 4 of them this year. They've all blown right behind the compressor wheel. I went two seasons on the first one with out a single issue. I had it rebuilt in the off season like usual. It blew on the first hook. It was pretty violent so I understand why. However, I have had much more violent take offs than that on the charger that lasted two years. I've looked at the logs after every time and there is good oil pressure (70 psi per the usual the last three years) and supply, egts (1500-1700), drive pressure is always ~1:1 or even slightly better. The only change, which the only reason I can think of, is I went from stock bodied injectors to modified 250%. I first tried exergy 6.7 ones but when the truck kept missing with them and an '07 ECM I went back to 5.9 250% overs from another company. I've blown two on each set. I've also bumped my timing from a max of 28* to a range of 34*-40*. These have all but one blown pulling an NTPA 3.0 class sled setting with a 2.6 or 3.0 cover. Two blown with each cover. I ran NTPA the last two years with my 2.6 truck and no issues.

These are Haisley HX-60s and I have nothing but great things to say about Curt and the guys there. The first charger lasted 2 years with zero issues. After I blew the first one they took care of me 100%, the next few times they helped me out with spare chargers, discounted prices...etc. They are trying to figure this out too.

Anybody have any ideas? I don't have video of the second time I blew the charger but it looks just like the last video.

Interesting. I know Rob Wright just blew a charger a couple wks ago and it seemed like another went on Saturday but I haven't confirmed that. His are also Haisleys as he works for them.

One of the ones they borrowed to me was his used one. I didn't blow that one but did eat the exhaust wheel a bit so I paid for it to be rebuilt. I wonder if there is something going on with weaker shafts. I know they are weak to begin with and are sensative to speed changes but I know there are guys with many more ponies than me running them and they used to be on 3.0 trucks a couple years back.

Holy Hell what kind of RPM's are you turning down the track? It sound like you're spinning it to the moon.

Maybe your drive pressure gauge is clogged up giving a false reading. Just a thout.

I could be completely off base here, butt have you checked you A/W coolers for pieces and for restriction? Tough luck though, hope you get it figured out.

Good idea. I know a guy that found a rag in his a2w after he went threw every idea he could think of as to why he was having problems.
Sometimes its the simplest of things.

Leaving the line between 5000-5200 sometimes upwards of 5500. Running down the track 4100-4700. All depends on the track.

Already checked and replaced just in case.

I've always removed them and cleaned them out thoroughly. If there was a restiction I would expect a change in drive pressure or boost but there has been none. very consistent run to run and last year.

Oooof just plain looks like overspeed to me. I'd drop the governor down to 5200 or less off the line.

Last night I left at 5100 and it was at 4700 when it popped.

Anybody have any luck with a bigger B/W charger like an s500?

Several guys here leave at 5600 rpm on their 60's. Heck I left at 5400 on my 2.5 s400 last wknd. Had me worried but ran great.

I spit 2 hx60s off my truck last year in the first few hooks.1 on its 1st run and 1 on its 3rd.(2 different builders) I went to a borg and ended up driving it at 70/80psi drive pressure and 50/55boost for about 7 hooks.
I was happy with it, but then it didn't blow up eather.lol

Maybe its time for an hx80 or 82 but harts do seem to stay together longer then others

I've had similar feedback from others. I'm a little unmotivated right now after last night but if I get the bug again I may try theirs.
