I believe the pitman arm swap is only on 3rd gens.

I very much prefer the OE Spicer ball joints over a Moog or their equivalent, but it appears that the Spicers are on eternal back order or are discontinued...

Its likely time to replace the half shaft joints as well.

245k and 285k on factory ball joints? I didn’t know a second gen front end would stay together that long! You got your money’s worth.

the moog are actually greaseable..other than some emf or carli..dynatracks they seem to be the best option...

Moog is greasable, but don’t last. If you plan to put another 170k on the truck, you will be replacing those moog joints again. One thing about moog is the lifetime warranty.
We have a truck in the fleet with 450k. Paid for moogs once, the other three sets after that have been free from same auto parts store. Same goes for moog u-joints.

I like spicer products. They might not be greasable, but they last. Or you can be cheap house brand joints and drill/tap your own grease fitting. I’ve done that many times.

We go with that Dodge brand kit 1320 mentioned. Seems to out perform the aftermarket as far as life goes. Sure the lifetime warranty is nice, if your time isn't of value. I'm sure you're not getting paid to replace shit.

Carli doesn't make 2nd gen ball joints. I've heard people have bad luck with dynatrac. Only ones I've heard of people not having issues with is EMF if you've installed them you'd know. But if you don't beat the truck and OEM's have lasted that long then why no another set of those.

ill be getting the moog..in stock here and greaseable so...the rest of the stuff is oem mopar but i cant find an oem balljoint

I would advise against Moog for the 4x4. They’re good on the RWD, but I’ve never seen any last in a 4x4. 15 years ago we installed many sets of Napa Gold that were made by Spicer. I can’t attest now to their quality or if they’re still made by Spicer.

I personally have nothing good to say about the Moog RWD lower BJ (K7369).
One drive through downtown houston and at least one of those things is communicating in morse code :bang

I replaced the OE ball joints on my ‘95 and then on the ‘98 RWD 2500’s with Moog and never had an issue. The ones on the ‘95 had @ 200K on them when it was totaled and the ‘98’s had @ 200K on them when I sold it.

i looked into the reviews kinda thing for the moog and hardly saw any failure crybabies..

them spicers are sweet but pricey..they got the oversize too..which i dont need but shows they got all the stuff....good link thanks..
