Truck Under Construction
Alright y'all, I've got am '02 F-250 with the 5.4 and 4r100, that I'm swapping my built 12v (500-550hp) into. I know the diesel 4Rs can be built to handle the power easy, but I'm just wondering what the main differences in the gas vs. diesel trans is? I'm gonna start buying my parts for the trans build at tax time, and I'm just wanting to confirm that Diesel parts will work in a gas trans..

main Parts list:

-SunCoast billet triple
-SunCoast extreme duty rebuild kit
-Suncoast billet input
-Probably a Factory Tech VB
-PCS standalone computer.

Thanks.

The diesel 4r is slightly stronger. Same gear ratios. The bolt pattern is different on the gas 4r

Well, If all of the above is upgraded to Suncoast components I oughta be good right? And the diesel parts will work in my gas trans, right? Including the converter?

Gas converter is much smaller and so it the case where it sits. A Diesel converter will not fit in a gas housing.

Need case. Might as well get a diesel trans...... zomg

On Tapatalk so scuse my spellin

Gas 4R's have the same bolt pattern and bell housing as the 6.0 5R's so why wont the converter fit?

We have used a few gas 4r's BTS built when a 5r will not hold up behind cummins in a conversion. Same trans different bellhousing.
