mods
5x.014 ddp
215 hp pump with 7mm dv's, 4gsk,maxed by seth at 650cc
timing is set at 20 and have a adjustable timing gear
gt3788r over a s480 both with billet comps
colt stage 3 cam
head has some bowl work ( basically clean up)
Marnie pistons
fass 220 at 40 psi
banks dual ram intake
bd intercooler
has of other stuff too springs, push rods, rods etc

truck has 35's with 4.10 gears

truck runs great but i would like it to spool faster. i had a he351 over s475 on it for couple years but i found it ran to hot when i was towing, so i put this set together. Was looking at Borg Warner S360 S300SX3 60/68 177272 . Then running a 40mm external gate with the s480.

what do you guys think ?

i have ran the truck from 18-25, seem to like the 20 when towing. the are 145's

I have the same pump 5x.018's 62/73/14 & 80/96/1.10 stock cam head and 89 block and I run 28.5 and its a monster lights very easy in a 4k lb truck with no traction even when the primary had a 1.32 housing

it's not that it doesn't spool , i just want faster , i want my cake and eat it too lol

I would look at a gt35r. You already have the water lines plumbed in. I had a gt35/55 combo that did 890ish uncorrected with a 215 pump and some 5x.020. Plus a ball bearing charger will last way longer in the second stage. Search some of RonA's old posts to see how well the s300's last as a secondary.

the gt i have is a stage 3 gt3788r , i was thinking i should be able to find a tighter a/r turbine housing. for it. but i can't seem to find anything for it. any one help out ?

You should be able to get a stage 2 housing for it. Check out Forced inductions.

The problem is that Garrett no longer offers their powermax kits for the dodges. The only way you will be able to find a housing is if someone happens to have a leftover one on the shelf. Most of the people I knew didn't like the stage 3 for the same reasons you stated. Stepping them down to a smaller turbine housing really made a big difference. If you have the ability to external gate it, finding a smaller non-gated housing should be simple.

putting a gate in it, that i can do no problem have a few sitting around , i will see about finding a smaller turbine housing. thanks will post when i get one in

I have a very similar set up as you do in my 97 but with a stock head and stock cam combo also 4.10s and 35" tires. My secondary is a 62/68/.83 which lights very quick and easy (can build 10 psi by 1500 rpm). If you are going with a BW unit and the 68 turbine I would recommend the .83 housing over the .91

Weston recommended the .83 for my 66/68 as well. might just have to pick on up and try it after I get to drive the thing some more.

That's where the 62 I'm running came from as well it is a very nice piece for sure

i am going to try the turbine housing first see how that works , if that doesn't smarten it up i will look into another turbo ,
