1 of the heating elements in my grid heaters burnt out, I phoned up cummins and they want $532 for the new intake plate/intake heater assembly and 2 weeks away.

My question is, if I were to get an intake plate from a 24valve and the separate heater to match would it all just bolt up and be alot cheaper in the end? I can find 24v intake heater grids for under 100 all day long. The cheapest I've found the 12v one is 350 and on the wrong side of the border.

Enlighten me once again please guys

24v has the intake horn one set of holes closer to the front of the head, so the plate won't work. You can use the heater no problem. Either swap the elements into the 12v unit, or find an intake plate from a 12v that has the separate heater assembly. My 94v engine was like this, my 98 has the integral heater-intake plate.

If you're interested, i have one. I'll be running a dual setup on mine. Pm me w your # and ill send you some pics
