Hi diesel enthusiasts!

I'm in the market for a used heavy duty truck and want to know as much as possible about diesels before I step away from the gasoline pumps.

I have a CDL and used to drive truck for a short time before I went back and finished up college, but didn't know a whole lot about diesels even then.

We have a kubota tractor that I feed diesel to mow the lawn and that's about as much as I know about diesel engines.

I know a good deal about gasoline engines and have replaced pistons, done valve jobs, etc. but diesels? NADA. Never so much broke one apart.

Do they even have spark plugs? LOL

In other words, I AM A TOTAL NOOB to the diesel mechanics.

I hope to learn a little on this site.

I will be a little more inquisitive about specifics of a truck I'm looking at on the next post.
