Been tossing around the idea of building a grid heater to attach to the intake of my side draft. The reason being is that the purpose of my build is to be able to hop in the truck and drive it any weather, and since I do a lot of riding, cold weather starting with ease is a must. The build won't sacrifice any compression at all, so that's a plus, however a grid heater would be a big plus. Anyone out there ever make a grid heater that is maybe a little less restrictive that the factory one?

I run a dual intake and I split the heaters between the 2 runners cause it started poorly in the cold. but I cant imagine a high flow grid heater, though they probably flow ok anyways.

there is a industrial one that is the full length of the factory cummins intake plate i have one but no pics

How cold? Might look into an ag/industrial propane cold start setup.

How about running one like in a 7.3 Powerstroke, a coil about the size of your thumb that screws into place. BD also makes one for their intakes that's very similar.

I can get you the part numbers if you are interested.
