Lift pump

Need a little advice on this one. I am a P7100 fan and know nothing about the Chevy d'max.
'01 local VFD grass unit came in limping with a P0093. Changed the fuel filter, lots of rust in it, and now cannot get it primed. Is there a manual primer on these, or do they use the intank electric pump? I have looked at a lot of threads, and no one mentions lift pump failure.
Need to get this one back in service as it is dry and windy here.

yeah, unlike the dodges, there is no factory transfer pump.
filter housing has a hand primer on it.

I've got a HP 150 on my truck. No priming any more!!
