Mass Airflow Meter

Tobin

5.7 IDI Powaa!
Anyone know if you have to have the mass airflow meter (MAF) on a deleted 6.7 for it to run?

Thanks,
Tobin

Mass airflow sensor yes you need to have it plugged in but does not have to be in the intake I ran mine to atmosphere for a year.

Thanks, I am guessing why mine idles fine and then when you try and give it throttle, it pops and sputters.

Sorry for the noob question, I'm actually new to this things and would like to learn more. What is an air mass meter or mass airflow sensor? How does it work and where is it located on a cummins 6.7 diesel? Thanks a lot. Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Measures the volume of air going through the intake tract. I believe the ECM uses it to calculate a differential to determine the amount of EGR flow.

It also requires a separate +12v power source that the TIPM provides. Same circuit as the turbo VGT actuator.
