i endeed up melting #5 and pop'n the gasket...(what a mess)
i'v been told it can be fix ..2 ways by 2 different people. ther's a penny sized hole through the piston and the sleeve is damaged(some was melted)
just chacking to see whats correct

option 1
pull the motor ,break it completley down, bore the damaged area out, rebuild re-install.

option 2
dismount motor jack it up, pull piston and sleeve reinstall new...

let me know what other options i may have

thanks!

Hey man... I got your email and saw the pics earlier today. Ugh!!!
That sux dude!

Have you spoken to Jeff yet or showed him pics?
Have you decide if your gonna keep it and make it Bad A$$? Or sell ?

No wet liner's in these little ones.......your looking at door #1.....However if the cylinder is in really good shape, you might just pull the pan and throw a new piston in that hole with a hone job.

no wet liners for sure do to cavitation problems!!!!!! but a dry repair sleeve is probably what u will have to do, bore the block and use part # 4429166 that is the dodge salvage sleeve part # for problems like this, most likely you will have to bore that hole.

havent decided yet..
its either spend 4k and say good bye to it.
or spend 8k and make it one hell of a scaldded dog!
its just coming up with the 8k thats in consideration

and the fact i wana a mega dually!!!!!

but no havent had a chance to talk to jeff..been busy myself
but i did talk to phil, and ha did mention i could do a in-fram fix ....but he wasnt 100% sure. he still wanted me to get with jeff on it.

Ugly enough, but I sure would like to see the cylinder wall. Got any pics with the piston down?

if business is as good as you say it is.... there's shouldn't be any question about what to do :rockwoot:

Since you also can afford to let it sit.... I'd yank the motor and do it right. $.02

oh its good.
but also
iv just droped money for my bachalor party( cruise to bahamas)
put new tires on the SS
getting married in 2 months:doh:
still have to pay for the honeymoon (hopefully figi)
and now my truck!!!!
ahhhhhhh.

but no i dont have any pics of the cylinder wall.
still need some input

to build or not to build....that is the question

if i build it will have some goodies with it, just dont know what yet
but i do belive an injector got stuck open

who/ what company are great engine builders? let me know

i would love to do the build myself but neither do i have the tools or time

Jeff Garmon ( closet to you ), Darren Morrison in GA, Keating if you can get him to do it ( busy ), Lloyd Mills in MD, Tim Barber in VA, Scheid in IN are few I know that would have no problem with a CR.

As sweet as your girlfriend is, she probably wouldn't mind you forgoing the honeymoon for a engine build  LOL

I have always used Black's Diesel, Ashley is good folk, and is more of a CR guy.

Now I could be completely of based here, and nothing against Garmon, but if I had a CR problem Id go to Black's, if I had a 12v or 24v problem Id go to Garmon's.
