Anyone drilled a hole in the case directly outside of the pressure adjustment screw on the valvebody? That way I can adjust it without having to drain and drop valvebody, or use vice grips, every time I want to adjust it. Just quick, side of the road adjustments whenever I want. It'd be particularly nice at the track for tuning in shift points and shift speed.

i see no reason it would be an issue, strategic 1/8 or 1/4NPT plug would be the fix.

Not like its under pressure or load bearing

I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I wasn't thinking about, like maybe there was a odd shape in the case at that location that would prevent a plug or something. (I don't have one close by to look at), or maybe fluid level would prevent you from removing the plug LOL I'm just trying to keep from making a stupid mistake.

Yes did it before.

Awesome. Thanks.

Lots of high performance racing 727's have an external pressure adjustment screw, sounds like a good idea on a race 47re/rh.

Id like to just make the adjustment on the outside of the case but I don't know how i would seal around the screw/hole. Small rubber bushing?

I like your thinking Mike!

Just wish i was the first to think of it lol.

Use an engine oil pan drain plug w/metal and rubber (or copper) sealing washers.

Pipe threaded plug.....

don't forget the series of test port plugs on the side of the case that are subject to line pressure, etc.

I was just thinking about this! seeing ive pulled the pan every day for the last 3 days.

looking at it it would need a bit of a countersink to get the hole drilled and be able to tap it for a plug.

do it and post up a pic!

maybe he means a spot-face? to make the surface flat so the drill will not walk (kinda shooting from the hip)

Brass would work fine, I plan to do this while my trans is apart on the bench... Ill post here.

Cool, thanks man. My problem will be lining up the hole right LOL There may be 3 or 4 plugs in mine.

Awesome... Sick of dropping the pan 3 times every time I need to play with it.

boom.

impossible to line the plug up perfect unless you drill into the pan "rail" of the transmission, so I drilled and tapped at an angle. works perfect with a ball end allen
