Need help with coolant bypass

Previous owner installed a coolant bypass on my rig.

Got a hard plug on the drivers side rear of the head and then it goes straight into 1/2 hose and T's into the heater core lines.

I'm having trouble getting up to operating temps in this cold weather and the heater sucks.

Is there any harm in installing a ball valve for everyday driving and then opening the valve for high rpm runs? or will the coolant build too much pressure when it gets warm?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm leaving for a 2hour trip in the morning and a little heat would be great.

I have also looked around and considered moving it to a T in the radiator hose instead of the heater core hose to help keep a little heat.

Thanks in advance.

I don't see any issue. I mean the system was designed to run without it.

Either a valve or a pressure relief valve so it only opens under high coolant pressure. Either would work but I would recommend the PRV.

Do a search on here, I'm sure someone lists the model number.
