i am having trouble with my 3.0 truck. i cant seem too get any more than 3700rpm out of going down the track. i leave at about 4700 then it drops to 3700 when i let the clutch out.

engine specs. Mahle big bowl pistons .150 fly cuts 200/220 hamilton cam 7x14 E.D. injectors 12mm pump with a custom quick rate cam and 5k gov springs set at 30* timing. turbo is a s474/83 with a .88 t4 housing

whats spray angle on the inj? where is your pump set at? does it fall under the charger at all? that housing is small

Switch to a 1.1 exhaust housing. If that doesn't fix it you'll most likely need a larger turbine wheel.

^^^^^ I agree with both of those posts. After you check those things, check for a boost leak too. And after you get a bigger turbine side, leave the line harder. You have 5k springs, try to feed the clucth at or above 5k.

edit: How hot is your EGT?

Play with the turbine, go up housings, 1.10 or a 1.25, both available new for around $200.

im guessing your final is too low for your hp. Try a slower gear and see how it runs.

I have a 1.1 housing I am going to try just to see. It make 70psi and the exhaust temps are 1800.

I have 3.55 gears and 315/70/17 bfg at's and usually use 3rd and low range when I pull.

im going to guess its a charger issue.....although those 7x14's arent that big.. they should still light that charger......

What's wrong with the charger to big of compressor or is the turbine to small?

Time to sell that charger to me kaleb haha or at least the housing for trevs Turbo.

this is the last pull track was only 200ft long so the weight came on fast

83 turbine is pretty small.

edit: Was the cam degreed in? What IC do you have and what are your intake temps?

Unless you monitor drive vs boost pressure on a few runs you really are only guessing. As I said before, my guess is that you need more turbine flow. How many other 3.0 trucks run less than a 96/88 turbine? How many 3.0 trucks run 3.5X gears? How many 3.0 trucks still run air-air intercooling?

I totally agree with the drive pressure and turbine flow. As far as the rest, Everybody has to start somewhere. He should still be able to turn more rpm.

Also to add to your list, how many 3.0 trucks run a 74mm comp wheel?

this truck was my daily driver less than a year ago so its still a work in progress. This is only the second year for 3.0's around here so we are still trying to get them figured out.

so what gear ratio would be best 4.88 with the 315s or 5.13s. or should i just drop to a 33" tire and go 4.88s
