This is a great event, we have been going since it started a couple of years ago.

Where: Reno, NV

When: Friday August 28th at 7:00pm

The gates will open for registration at 2:00 and close it at 6:00. The hook fee is $30, and includes two pit passes. Additional passes are $25 each. For the diesel pick ups they will be running a stock class (stock turbo); street class (up to 2.8 turbo) super street (big turbo and twins) and Modified. These are basically NADM rules and they do plan to enforce the rules this year!

Yes I will be there. L&L is now running the truck portion of this pull.
You and your trk will be missed.
2 pulls in your backyard, how sweet.

as you may or may not know, there is extensive road construction on I80 from just east of Sacramento all the way to the NV state line resulting in many traffic backups and just sitting in traffic for extended periods of time.

The alternative that CALTRANS suggests is up SR49 out of north Auburn, thru Nevada City and then hooking back up on I80 at Emigrant Gap, a windy narrow two lane highway clogged with all the heavy trucks that would normally use I80 and that route only gets you half way through the construction.

I suggest anyone coming thru Sacramento to use US50 thru South Lake Tahoe, continuing past the casinos and over Spooner Summit, down into Carson City and north on US395 into Reno instead. I drove that route about two weeks ago and only encountered minor construction near ElDorado Hills (half way between Sacramento and Placerville) that did not slow down the flow of traffic.
There is much less big truck traffic, there are plenty of passing lanes in just the right places and the highway from just east of the casinos all the way into Carson City is all 4 lane and freshly repaved.

just my suggestion, its a little longer mileage wise, but in my opinion a lot nicer and less stressful trip.

which ever way you decide to go, have a safe trip

the grade going out of Lake Tahoe is up about 6 or 7% for about 3 or 4 miles,

Lake Tahoe is about 6200 ft elevation and Spooner is 7300 over the top and all two or three lane each way dropping down into Carson City at about 4500 elevation, one of the nicest mountain passes you will travel out here in the western states, just keep it slow on the downhill side, 45mph or so, long sweeping curves and beautiful views of Carson Valley, turn left at the bottom of the hill and head north to Reno.

Have safe trip, lots of driving this weekend, get some rest

can you say exhaust brake? :)

have fun you guys..i just got home from dropping my truck & trailer in LA and turning around and heading back to sac..
