Anyone planning any big swaps? Engines are coming down in price. I saw a running Ford(New Holland) 6.6 for $1500. Also a take out DT466(P-pump) for $1000.

IH-DT360
IH-DT466
Cat 3126/ C7
Ford(NH) 6.6
Ford(NH) 7.8
Cummins 6CT/8.3

Im dont know that much about the 6.6 but the 8.3 and the 466 i know far sure would be a neat swap to do. If i had the money I would put an 8.3 in a dodge 2500. I know id have to use a big hammer to fit it in but i think that it would be cool

I have one I started a few years back, it is a 79 ford f350, and I have a partially built DT466 waiting to go in it. As soon as my Cummins in the GMC is done I plan on getting back to it.

Or if anyone is looking for a project PM me, The truck body is restored and new paint, red. The DT466 has new fly cut pistons, new sleeves, balanced bottem end, new bearings, ported head.....

I just don't have the time to finish it, and I have kind of lost interest.

Could a 8.3 fit in a Dodge with a Body lift???

How much taller/Longer is an 8.3 compaired to a 5.9?

A lot bigger...but I have a buddy working on putting a p-pumped 24v 8.3 in a 78 F350.

I wouldn't swap a 3126 into a lawnmower...gutless wonder. Now a C7 with CR might not be too bad.

:hehe: One with about a 42" deck would be about right I'd say..LOL

Nope, I doubt it...30" maybe.

I'm serious, they have no balls...they always seem to get you there and back, but it's slow going!

Chris

Here's the rest of what I have:
-an 8.3 in a 92 or 93 F250
-6V53 in an F350(from ebay)
-6 or 8V92 in a Burb
-and a C7 in an F350

I always save good swap pix.

I agree 100% about the 3126.
We need to see some pics of the p pumped 8.3 sounds sweet.

Truck Source Diesel in San Antonio, Texas is swapping a DT466 with an allison into an F 350 with huge tires 53" i believe or bigger

6.6 ford LOL what a joke get 7.8 ford way better anyway me and a buddy use to pull massey ferguson's so we are think'n of a 540 perkins with a p-pump and a 4.3 hyper charger of course in 250 ford it sound like a power joke anyway lol

My buddy did an Excursion with an 8.3/allison 545/divorced 205. No body lift. He never got around to finishing some minor details else where on the truck then his service truck went down so he pulled the motor and dumped it in the IH :(
