Thats what alot of guys used to do with their gassers they raced. Replace the CAT with a gutted cat for racing and if the time for emissions came around they unbolted it and put a functioning one on. Thats what I would do...
 
They problem is that the DPF's cost so dang much. We use to run a tight fitting pipe threw the cats so it was all the same pipe all the way back but looked like it had the convertor on it.
