One thing led to another. Build thread.

Damn nice build JP. I knew you had plans for the truck but didn't think you were going this far. Very nice and clean work. Can't wait to see it in person. I should have known you would go all out without intending to.

Thanks joe! I have about 5 years of brainstorming involved in this one. I wish i would have never seen that GAW diesel truck. Ever since then, i couldn't shake the stupid idea to build a fast 4x4

Picked up a digi-set to control lockup. I'll probably run od on one too.

Drag link is built. The angle on the track bar will match the drag link. To do this, cory will fab a bracket on the axle to reposition the mounting point.

I stopped by Brown's to exchange some parts. I compared my 6.7 pistons (left) to 04.5 pistons (middle). I can't remember if the pistons on the right were 03-04 or 6.7 pistons.

Brown's had a few transmissions ready to ship out too.

I heard that side draft manifolds like this one can lead to melting the 4-5 pistons. Does anybody have any input on that?

Hey JP. I actually saw more heat in 3-4 when I ran my side draft but it was no more than ~80* on the egts. I have the logs if you want to see them. Jeff

Dang man, you've been busy! I like the intent of the build too, extreme, but still for the street.

Got a couple little things done this week, but not much picture wise. I ordered a bellmouth for a headlight intake, and a couple other goodies. Plans are to work on gutting the bed. I'd rather just buy bedsides / rear quarter panels, but I can't seem to find any for a 3rd gen long bed. So, hacking my bed is in order.

I got the head and manifold cleaned up a little. It had some surface rust from sitting on the shelf at Scheid for a while. I'm going to pull out all of the valves and give it a good cleaning before assembly. Have any of you ran dual valve springs with 200# on the seat with a flat tappet cam? Any advice there?

I noticed the flange on the manifold is not completely flat, but I plan on running a bead of clear silicone around the flange, then letting it set up just a little bit before fastening it to the head. What methods work for you guys when mounting the manifold to the head?
