I have read and read using the search function for the last few days about hitches I just bought a roll pan and moved my hitch forward flush with the roll pan, but I'm afraid it will not be strong enough. Looking for advice on how to gusset or support the factory hitch I moved forward. Thanks for your advice I am a carpenter and not a fabricator so any advice is appreciated...

Is it still held by 6 good bolts?

The big question is can I weld it to the frame or should I make a new plate to bolt up because of flex?

Don't weld it to the frame. Can I ask how you slid it forward on the frame, thought the spring perches were very close to the hitch mounts on a third gen frame?

thats how i made my hitch, i got to two bolts on each side of original hitch, then took 2" square tube ran it across the top of the reciever tube, welded it on there bent it at like a 22 1/2 angle on each side welded a plate on those and bolted it to the frame... best i could explain it i will try to get pictures tomorrow
