I finally got around to deleting my 2010 this weekend and it didn't go so well. I have everything installed and then tried to put on a smarty jr. When it went to updating ECM it said that for a few seconds and then went to CAN error 133. So the update was stopped. I went to try it again and it said it recovered a stock file to update but it ended up with the same error. So I'm left, right now, with a vin locked smarty and a truck that I can't start. A checked codes and it had some for egt stuff, some for egr stuff, and then several unknown codes (P02E9, P2471, P0036, P049D). I cleared those and then just checked them again and they were back. I've tried to find loose wires or something that would cause a loss of connection but I'm lost. Does anybody here happen to know what's going on? Or where I can begin to look? Or any other advice? It'd be greatly appreciated.

possible that the jr has an older flash on it than the truck, have you tried goind to mads site and downloading the newest software into the jr? its broke now so updating it can't hurt.

Yeah pm or email bob Wagner on here. He may have to give a file for you ECM code. I've had him do that for me a few times. Great guy.

I just got the smarty in last week so I'm hoping it's the newest update but I'll check.
I've been on the phone with Bob and he's had me try a few things but it's still not uploading so he is going to check on some other stuff for me.

Does anybody else have something I could try? I'm still stuck. I've tried unhooking the batteries, turning the key on, and then hooking them back up to reset the system. I've also hooked a battery charger up to boost voltage while its programing but still no luck.

have you tried updating the software on it yet? or did Bob tell you not to?

It's a ME and it has the latest software for the 2010 which is the 14ME. There is a 28ME but it doesn't support the 10's and 11's. Bob was supposed to be checking on what that code really was and some more possible fixes but I don't imagine I'll hear back until Monday at this point.

Can error is a communication error.

Long shot, but do you have another obd2 cable you can try to use? Like from another programmer?

I'll give that a shot. I have an other smarty from my old mans truck so I'll try that one.

It seems to be a bit more serious because the recovery file wouldn't load either. Does anybody know how I would go about checking the CAN BUS and ECM for problems? That's what Smarty has told me to do at this point.

at this point, it's a real possibility that the ECM is a gonner... some component failure on the board or something. As in, if Dodge would have performed a reflash, it would have died on them too.

there's a chance that it's a wiring issue, or even a bad TIPM as the CAN wiring runs through it also. but there's also a chance that it's the ECM

If I could get an ECM would I be able to just plug it in and see what happens? The smarty did VIN lock to the truck and I don't know if that would cause problems when swapping ECMs.
