stage 8 header bolts

I double checked and the specs on my stainless steel studs are 80,000 PSI

I am also using serrated style flange nuts, also in stainless steel

So 66% of the strength of a grade 5 bolt?

Basically yes.....they have been on my truck for over a year and been torqued down tight

Never came lose and never broke, they work very well

You are confusing yield and tensile strength...if the bolt yields...it will fall out.

Yield is 90ksi for a grade 5 bolt smaller than 1" diameter. If that stainless iis 18-8 rated...which most is....it has a yield of 80ksi. So its close.

But...still chicken poop compared to fancy tool steel, grade 8, ASTM409, and a few opther btop dogs out there.

Ive used turbo mounting studs for Mack/Volvo, they work great, the issue you have is with heat and expansion you need the bushing in there so it maintains its clamp load without breaking. Ill post pics later...

I use the 12.9 allen bolts with lock washers, and ceramic coated them (except for the engaged threads). Usually re-torque a couple of times over the first week too.

Anyone sell stud kits? I saw one thru genos, but looking for something a bit nicer. Arp?
Or does anyone know the stud length so I can order some studs?
