T3 vs T4

May sound stupid, but I'm looking to purchase a Steed Speed manifold for my 12v. I'm running compounds, and my current small turbo is a t3, but with time will be changed. Are there performance difference between the T3 and t4 manifolds? Considering going with a t4 and just running and adapter for the moment. I'm sure the t3 will prob spool faster than a t4, but in high HP applications the t3 manifold would restrict significantly more than a t4, right?

Just thinking out loud. Opinions appreciated

Maybe T3 with external wastegate(s), smaller initial volume to spool, the gate around it as pressure climbs.

Sorry to be the grammar police, but could you reword that? I've read it countless times now and I'm still not completely sure of what you're trying to say.
 
The T3 is a smaller volume than T4, thus in theory will have a higher velocity, and spool turbos faster. Steed offers external wastegate ports in their manifolds, believe up to two. In thought, you would have the smaller volume of the T3, but with that will come higher drive pressures, this is where the wastegates come in, and open up, redirecting drive pressure around the the turbo, possibly to the second turbo, or just the downpipe.
But, if you're already considering going to a T4 turbo, just get the T4 manifold and use an adapter for your current T3.
If I haven't explained clear enough, or correctly, I'm sure someone far more well versed than me will be along soon enough.

T4 gains really don't happen until very high rpm limits and high hp goals are the object of a build. The one advantage in some eyes is it will slow down torque on a fast spooling set of t3 twins to help limit high torque driveline damage.

Well, the truck I speak of, is something I'm building to be a street/strip truck , for now. HP goals will evolve throughout the next couple years, but eventually being a full time strip or pull truck (haven't decided). Currently the engine is has ARP studs, 188/220 cam, 24v Tappets, 7/16x.120 rods, soon to Install Hartland Roller rockers, 165# springs, retainers, etc. 5x14, 191, with a 62/71/13 s300/S475/96/1.32 s400. Although as mentioned it will be evolving, as I also have a 78, and 80 primary,. along with a larger set of sticks once the pump is sent out. With time the secondary will be upgraded, haven't decided to what yet, as I still don't have the motor in the truck yet, but once I get time to play with the current set I'll have a better idea of how much bigger I wanna go.

So, I am speaking mostly from a performance stand point about the t3 t4 manifolds. I know BD sells an adapter and in the description they claim there is no performance benefit from t3 to t4. I'm also thinking, when the time comes that I upgrade to a larger secondary, would I be better off having the t4 manifold. Hell, if I wanted a s400 secondary, I think you'd have to have a t4 or t6 manifold.... Not saying this is going to happen, just thinking out loud I guess lol?

Much better; thank you. I'm sure the younger crowd understood your original post just fine. I'm just too old and overeducated to pick up on the latest jargon.
