I replaced the solinoids in my tran a couple months ago because the plug was leaking fluid and when I dropped the vb a broken piece of the stepped plate fell out. so my od started slipping so I pulled the od housing and this is what came out.

I replaced the snap ring added the wavy ring and put a full thickness plate in and put 5 clutches/steels back in , its still doesn't want to engage all the time .
It seems to work great when its cold but as the trans gets warm its hit or miss , sometimes it engages real good and will hold the torque than the nextime it wont engage. When it does actually shift ist great.
The comp is commanding od and the solenoid ohms at 35.5 which is in specs .
Could the solenoid be weak when it gets warm or am I lookin at od piston apply seals?

5 of the 6 clutches were in great shape so I put them back in only the one closest to the broken plate was coned, that's the steel that was closest to broken ring in the pic.

Well I went ahead and dropped the v/b and checket all the shift valves and looked for debris and its spotless . I also went ahead and replaced all the electronics inside and the o/d converter lock solonoids ,2 of the 3 screws were loose so hopefully that was the problem.

Well I was leaning twords that also but I put a guage in the o/d port and was getting readings anywhere from 30 psi to 140 so I went ahead and pulled the v/b again and this is what the 3-4 accumulator piston and spring looked like!

Luckily I got a parts trans , heres the other stock one next to the one I took out.

The springs are different from what was in there to the other stock spring , why would that be , soften the shift to o/d?

Well phuck! I went for a test drive and its better but still doing similar. When it shifts to o/d it makes 30 psi but wont fully engage till 60psi and it holds power good than when I let off it will go to 140 and sometimes it will go to 140 on its own after a few seconds.Guess its the o/d piston seals ,

Well it was the piston apply seals wrer torn

The clutches still had half life compared to the new ones I put in BTW.
