Alright guys, my 91 is confusing the heck outta me. when i turn the key off, the dang thing keeps running. ive tried turining the key off and just start unhooking wires...nothing. then i thought the solinoid was bad. replaced it...nothing. im stumped! with the key off, if you step on the accelerator, it cuts out like crazy and blows white smoke. when you turn the key back on, everything is normal. ive also ran a direct wire from the battery to the solinoid to eliminate any faulty wiring problems. any ideas? im getting tired of having to pull a afro engineered choke cable to shut this beast down!

sounds liek the fuel shut off solenoid is not closing completely

does the manual fuel shut off shut it down when everything is hooked up?

Take the shutoff solenoid out and inspect the plunger very carefully. The plunger is rubber coated and the slightest nick or cut will leave fuel through.

Try a test light on your solenoid wire with the key off. If power to the wire isnt getting cut off, it wont shut down the engine. And if that is the problem, you most likely need a new ignition switch.

Beyond that, check the plunger, like was previously stated.
